Car Parking at the Officer Recreation Reserve

This year so far there have been some bizarre and atrocious examples of people attempting to park vehicles at the reserve on game day for both Auskick and OKJFC games.  We have seriously hoped that none of the offenders have been from our Club.  Maybe this page and diagram can help if some of them were from Officer.

Unlike every other recreation reserve in the shire, we have not been afforded any channeling, curbing or asphalting so it’s dirt tracks for us.  That means in the event of any rain the place becomes muddy and a slip and slide.

The Reserve is still in the middle of some building works which exacerbates the problems.  We would suggest stay away from what looks like muddy areas – ESPECIALLY IF THE SURFACE IS ON AN ANGLE.  The Club is not organising for someone to tow you out – you’re on your own.

If in doubt, use common sense, refer to this diagram below or ask someone.

Car Parking Do’s

Drive in and around the Reserve at WALKING PACE ONLY – especially around playgrounds you never know when a child could run out

Park around any oval where possible

Park in the area between the Tennis Courts and Scout Hall (inside the green square) – it is a good surface and holds about 40 cars – it’s close to everything

Car Parking Don’ts

Do not park in front of ambulance gates (they are clearly marked by bollards and witches’ hats)

Do not park along thoroughfares (the actual driveways) especially where witches’ hats or bollards are in place

Do not park in the Tennis Club car park when competition is on

Do not park in front of the large green shed – people need access to it during the day

Do not park behind the netball club rooms or anywhere near the new social rooms Ambulance Access is required.
