The Officer Kangaroos JFC is dedicated to helping young athletes of all ages and abilities to reach their full potential on and off the football field.
In 2018 the Club begin the, “Parklea Junior Football Academy” and became the first club in the district to provide a program which is designed to help further develop our players, coaches and volunteers.
The Academy program is open to all players in age groups (Boys and Girls U9-U18) providing you have registered (and paid a deposit of in full) with the club for the current season.
There are three key parts to our Academy and they are:
- Pre-season Academy Sessions: Run in Feb/March
- Coaches Support Program: Run in Feb/March
- In Season Academy: Run on Friday nights during the season
(1) Pre-season Academy
Our Academy will be made available to all registered players (a deposit or full fees for the upcoming season must be paid by the first session).
The Academy commences in February/March and is delivered across a number of sessions (varies each year).
Players will be split into age group squads (competitive age groups only, U11-U18), lead by a Club head coach with assistance from other OKJFC coaching staff.
** 2023 Season Specific Information **
Dates: Sundays 5th, 9th & 26th March 2023.
Venue: Heatherbrae Recreation Reserve, 12 Bellerive Ave Officer.
Times: Each year age group will be allocated days and times – teams will be advised by their TM’s in their individual team Facebook Group and/or by a bulk email out to every parent.
(2) Coaches Support Program
For our coaches, this program is designed to provide coaches, assistants and helpers with modern training methods, drills and tips to work with and develop players of all abilities. The sessions will consist of:
- Oral presentations;
- Practical sessions on ground – which includes a full team from OKJFC completing a series of game-sense drills run by OKJFC Head Coaches in conjunction with OKJFC coaches.
(3) In Season Academy Sessions
On Friday nights our head coaches will conduct specialised and tailored coaching sessions for those players that are looking to do a little more than their regular weeknight training. This program is run by two of our coaches who are currently also working at Casey Demons and are now Level 2 coaching accredited.
